"We're With You"

Fall 2011 Schedule is posted - see details

Hibos are now back in DII - click on the link above to see the new schedule

FUNDRAISING - We are starting our Ad-Sales Pamphlet.  Sell $300 in ads and your dues are covered!  It is way easier than you think ... Lee Mason hit the pavement last time and was able to sell a ton of business card ads in one day!  Get out and sell ASAP ... all money and artwork are due by our first match Sept 10th.   Contact  Jon Logan or call 215 901 9126 for more info

Some information as we continue to prepare for the Fall Campaign:

  • Dues - Get your money to Todd Mason ASAP!
  • Fundraising - Chance to reduce your dues ... sell ads in the ad book!!!   Ads and artwork are due by the first game so we can get the booklet completed and distributed through the season.  We are also looking to reschedule the boxing event ... details Contact Jon Logan  or call 215 901 9126
  • Training - Every Tuesday & Thursday night - Falls Township Park (aka Shark Park) - 7PM - Always bring sneakers, spikes, rugby gear, etc ... we will be hitting the sled and going through game scenarios so we will need to have proper equipment for line outs, scrums, etc ...

Parting words from the 48 Laws of Power: Enter Action With Boldness - If you are unsure of a course of action, do not  attempt it.  Your doubts and hesitations will inflect your execution.  Timidity is dangerous.  Better to enter with boldness.  Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily corrected with more audacity.  Everyone admires the bold; no one honors the timid.

Essentially you will hear me say it 1000 times throughout the season ... make a mistake but make it 100 mph.  We made a bold move by moving up to D2 ... we all knew what we were getting into.  We all step up together and we will progress together.  No mistakes means no progress ... let's step it up each session, each game, each after party, etc ... and we will be successful.

  • Recruiting - Get this information out on Facebook and your other communication vehicles ASAP ... more numbers = stronger club = more fun for all
  • Dues - Talk to Todd Mason (mase.rugger06@yahoo.com) ASAP to get your status on this front.  No tickie no laundry ... (or if you don't pay, you don't play ... end of story)
  • Strengths - Here is an interesting article regarding a simple principal that we used vs. Old Gaelic last year that worked (sans the mishap at the end of the game) where we applied our greatest strength to our opponents biggest weakness.  It is a simple philosophy that we need to focus on.  Stick to our game and we win ... we play 'their' game and we lose.  Easy in principle, easy to execute, get your head around this right now and we will have a successful season.  (article here)
  • Fitness - I sent out info a while ago about the type of work you should be putting in already to hit the ground running and I trust you are doing it.  Quite simply, more fitness leads to a stronger mental focus, which should in turn lead to a more disciplined approach to the game.  Get fit, get smart, and get ready ... because we are taking this show on the road again to show those boys down South that they got off easy last year.
  • Inspiration - We have been through quite a bit, and we have a long road ahead, and this speech was obviously stolen from a movie ... but you get the picture.  I'm willing to fight and claw for that inch ... who's coming with me?  (clip)

The Hibernians have a very competitive schedule; there are many tough matches but plenty of opportunity to go far into the EPRU playoffs. Because we are now playing a league schedule, every weekend is important in accumulating points that will affect our playoff seeding.   Below are some points of which you should be aware:

  • I have attached a 4-week preseason workout for your use.  This workout is a derivative of one of the US National Team programs.  It’s likely that this will be a drastic change in training technique for most of us; you’ll note the premium placed on explosive, high-intensity / short-duration activity.  This produces much more applicable results then mindless gym sessions or jogging around your neighborhood.  Many of the days require both an AM and a PM session; try to keep them separate if you are able.  Not everyone will have access to all equipment mentioned, so substitute and adapt as best you can.

Goals

To field a hard working rugby teams that promote sportsmanship and basic moral values.  Our intentions will be to win our Conference Championship and advance further into the national tournaments using our hard work ethic and determination.

Mission Statement

The object of the CLUB is to play and promote the Sport of Rugby Union in Lower Bucks County, PA and to further the growth of the sport in the region, working within the framework of USA Rugby, as dictated by the International Rugby Board
